Taking Care of your Reborns

Dear Reader,

I care about the reborn babies I create and I want to ensure that they maintain their original pristine condition for years to come. Please follow these few simple instructions when caring for your baby.

Hair

If your reborn has beautiful hand rooted hair, it is rooted one or two hairs at a time and sealed from the inside.  This is so that you can gently comb and style it occasionally.

Only ever use a soft infant brush brushing their hair.

I would never recommend immersing the babies hair in water, but lightly spraying it with water or a gentle leave in conditioner / detangler so that it is damp before styling can help preserve the hair.

Brushing too hard or often can lead to some hair loss!

If your reborn baby has a wig this will be securely glued on but again brushing too hard or pulling at the wig can lead to hair loss!

I would never recommend using any kind of heat on your reborn’s hair!

Eyes

If you reborn has closed eyes they will also have hand rooted eyelashes.

Please avoid handling your baby`s eyelashes as they are delicate. It is possible through handling that your baby`s eyelashes some hairs could come loose.

If your baby has open eyes they will have eyelashes glued on, if handled they can come off,  if they do you can reapply them using a clear glue and a toothpick or tweezers.

General

Your baby should be kept out of the heat and the cold and in dry conditions. Extreme temperatures or damp could damage the vinyl and destroy your reborn.

My reborn’s are painted using layers of paint which with proper care should remain in pristine condition for many years to come.

To ensure this please avoid cleaning your baby with any abrasive clothes or cleaning products. I recommend using a soft, clean makeup brush to clean any dust off of your reborn at regular intervals.

A Reborn is not a toy and should not be given to children to play with.

A Reborn is a collector`s item that should be handled delicately at all times. The head must be supported in the same way you would support a real newborn baby`s head, and they should never be handled by the limbs.

Please use care when changing your baby’s clothes as they are not play dolls.  Make sure you do not handle your reborn in a rough manner as this can put undue pressure on the limbs at the seams and split seams can occur. You can gently turn your baby`s head and limbs, but you must not use force as this can damage them.

Magnets

Your baby may come equipped with a magnetic pacifier or bow. These magnets are very powerful earth magnets. They should not be used near any electronic or computer equipment and they should never be used near someone who has a pacemaker.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my reborn care page and if you have already adopted a reborn I hope it brings you joy for many years to come!
